On September 11th, 2020, our firm filed an application to be authorized to bring a class action against Ironman Canada Inc. and World Triathlon Corporation. This application seeks to obtain a refund for the registration fees paid by our members to participate in IRONMAN 5i50 and Sprint Mont-Tremblant 2020, IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant 2020 and IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant 2020, which were cancelled or postponed.
On January 8th, 2020, we filed a second application to be authorized to bring a class action against Ironman Canada Inc. and World Triathlon Corporation. This application seeks to obtain a refund for the processing fees of an amount varying between 9.2% to 14.48% of the registration price to participate in the events organized by the defendants.
Our client’s story
On August 21st, 2019, our client registered to participate in IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant which was supposed to be held on August 23rd, 2020, by paying $ 900.21.
On April 20th, 2020, she was informed that the triathlon would not be held because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In December 2020, our client received a partiel refund for her registration forte IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant. In fact, the processing fees of 66.68 $ weren’t refunded.
By examining her order receipts for registrations to prior Events, the applicant noticed that she was systematically paying for processing fees of an amount varying between 9.2% to 14.48% of the registration price, since 2017.
